Brazil -- Bovespa Index

The Bovespa Index tracks the performance of a basket of stocks that trade on the Sao Paulo Exchange. Started in 1968, the index consists of some of the largest and most heavily traded issues in the Brazilian market. The various components of the Bovespa Index account for more than 80% of market trading volume and more than 70% of the market value of all stocks trading on the Sao Paulo Exchange. Thanks to its status as a market cap weighted index, the largest firms tend to have the greatest impact on the Bovespa's value.
